Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

Sorry, no custom orders available at the moment

Wholesale availability

Not available at this time but some items in store have discounts for multiple items. Please choose from the drop down box.

Is my item completely smooth and ready to paint?

Your Raw Toy will be lightly sanded after I have cut it. It may require some additional sanding with sandpaper, especially in curves or corners, or if rounded edges are required. This is half the fun, particularly for the kids, to be involved in the creation of their own toys! They can then be painted or finished however you (or they) like!

Can I give Raw Toys to my baby?

Unless stated otherwise Raw Toys are not recommended for children under the age of 3, or those who mouth their toys and/or treat them harshly as many contain small parts. You know your child best, so please purchase accordingly.

Will my Raw Toy be exactly the same as the picture?

Due to the cutting involved, different wood grains, and the nature of handmade in general, your item will not be exactly the same. It will however, be very similar.

How long will my item take to make and ship?

The current turnaround times can be found in my shop announcement on the front page.
Postage times are as per the Auspost website, but these are a guide only. If you need your items urgently please send me a message.

What do I use to finish my toys?

Your item will possibly require a little more sanding in curves and corners or if you want rounded edges. Just use some fine grit sandpaper. Kids love helping with this job!
Paint is entirely up to you just make sure it is certified non-toxic.
Marking pens are great for features and lines, or wood burning tools are quite inexpensive.
A non toxic finish will help to keep your toy in great shape, please research before buying. Personally I have always used my own beeswax/organic coconut oil cream. This is great if you just want to bring out the grain in the timber and have it totally natural. I will have some available to purchase soon.

Why do some smaller items cost more?

Some items, especially animal shapes, have lots of curves and cuts that take longer to cut and sand than items with a reasonably straight edge or lightly curved edge.
